Well, there you go. I stand corrected on the oil pump location but I do know that the Savage does not hold much lubrication so the level needs to watched more closely than other models. Also your right, I do use a synthetic blend but it's no MAXIM, it's Golden Spectro. And yes I supect that my riding mostly highway has a lot to do with longevity.
